Serioustly, how dumb can you be to honestly think that "Black Hole" is a racist term? Unless maybe it's in pornographic context, and even then it's still more offensive for other reasons than for racism. |

i don't pay attention to anything like this anymore. if i see an article like this written i don't read it, if i see something on the tv that has the same subject as this article, i change the channel. i just like to hang out at home and come and work at my store. why should i get all fired up about what this guy thinks? it won't change the fact that i am still going to play my guitar today. if somebody calls me a cracker, kraut, mick, stupid polak, greasy serb, i really don't care, but the media tries to trick me into getting upset. if some dude is offended that some words in the english language should be eliminated because they may be interpreted as offensive, i really don't care. all of this talk about what you can and can't call people just builds bigger barriers between us all. we are all people and i really don't care what somebodys skin color is or what religion they are because at the end of the day i'll be cool to all of them, and chances are 98% of all people will be cool to me back. i've known and worked with a bunch of black people too, and you know what, they don't care either about what this guy says, the tv just tells them they should. i worked with a black guy and i called him and african american one day and he said "i'm not from africa, don't call me that." . i also told him "happy kwanza" and he said "who the ***** celebrates kwanza? i'm celebrating christmas!".
i am throwing out a suggestion to all of you. go on a media cleansing period. don't watch the news, don't read any magazines that deal with current events, don't read the newspaper, and don't listen to talk radio. if you do this for a week, you will feel much better because your brain will not be poisoned and tricked into thinking about such silly nonsense as the article that this thread is centered around.

Amen to everything except the newspaper. The P-G is very good, and if you're on the right, just don't read the editorials and you'll be fine. But you've gotta read something because there is no excuse for ignorance because if we don't know what's going on, how can we try to make it better? If you could help but choose to remain apathetic or indifferent, then you have quite a lot of guilt on your shoulders. You're right though about everything else. I've never met one black person who objected to being called black any more than any of us objects to being called white. It's just a physical description. The trouble comes when people begin to think of it as a character description too, which really is quite absurd. It labels the outside, not the infinitely more important inside. After all, would you say something like "He's acting so thin-eyebrowed!" It's the height of absurdity, the trouble is, some people are just that absurd 
But yeah, the media sucks. The more populist, the worse, hence the Chinese [if I'm allowed to say that] water-torture that is talk radio of any ideology.

I've always just kind of laughed and shaken my head at stuff like this and moved on because it hasn't been all that important. And I've never been affronted with it personally, but I know how to diffuse it. But this, this is below the belt. They've gone too far. This time, it's personal. This is uncalled-for. This, this merits revenge.
This is why I've been unable to find this precious black gold (not a racist term) for the past few months. Ruining my childhood summer. Arizona took it off the market to re-design the label, and it hasn't come back yet. fucl<. |

I think that suicide is not a good thing to do no matter how sad that you are. I have thought bad thoughts to hurt myself before because my father is a dick but now I have a whole new me to be happy about! At my camp to lose weight I lost 40 pounds of fat and blubber that I had on my fat body. I am happy now more that I was and now I learned how to be a healthy person. I wanted to tell you all that I did ask the girl with the pretty face to dance after asking the courage to do it three weeks later and she did say yes! This made me proud and now i have confidence but I did not feel her boobs or get hand love off of her!  Maybe that will be for a future time! I hope you are doing well friends in Pittsburgh as I am doing well in Montreal! Your friend, Guy! |
